Reunion in Calgary

After waiting a few hours at the airport for Frieda, we finally reunited after 4 months on Tuesday afternoon (07/12).

We then took an Uber to our AirBnB and spent the whole evening talking, catching up, and sharing stories and pictures. Since the flight to Calgary was pretty exhausting, we went to bed quite early.

We will have two fully planned and packed weeks and therefore decided to use the time in Calgary to get used to the new time zone and gain some energy for the next few weeks.

Nevertheless, we explored Calgary a little. On Wednesday we walked through the southern part of the city and saw the different parks and suburbs. The river in the pictures is the Elbow River.

Along the river we then went to Riverdale Park. What we liked most about Calgary was the green scenery of the city and the small parks and trees between the houses and suburbs.

Our last stop for the day and the actual destination was the Chinook mall where we planned on watching a movie in the evening. After walking more than 10 kilometers, we finally arrived and used the remaining time to do some shopping and to browse through the stores.

On Thursday it was pretty hot and the sun was burning. After breakfast we decided to walk to Downtown Calgary and used the shade of the buildings to escape from the heat.

Around noon, we found ourselves a shaded spot in the Prince Island Park, where we had some lunch and enjoyed the weather and a good book. From there, we had a great view of the skyline!

In the afternoon, we went back to the AirBnB to escape from the heat and prepare for the next part of our journey. After packing up our suitcases, we went to a pub close to our apartment to end a great couple of days in Calgary with a nice drink!

The next day (07/15) we started the actual roadtrip part of our journey. As soon as we have reached our final destination (Vancouver) in a couple of days, I will post another entry to talk about those adventures.

Until then!:)
